Diagnosis ( Silvestri 1932a; Sendra & Moreno 2004)

Body length 2.2–4.0 mm; epicuticle with thin microdenticles; middle-sized, smooth clothing setae; antennae with 18–28 antennomeres; sensillum of third antennomere in dorsal position; short (ma, la) and long (lp) barbed notal macrosetae; lp mesonotal slightly longer than lp metanotal in adults; short thin pine cone notal marginal setae; 1+1 la, 1+1 lp macrosetae on VI–VII urotergites; 3+3 lp on VIII urotergite and 5+5 lp on IX abdominal segment; cerci covered with long macrosetae with distal barbs and a few clothing setae.

Habitat and distribution

Soil-dwelling species, well adapted to different soil conditions, found at low and high altitudes up to 3.200 m a.s.l. It is distributed under the scree slopes in the Sierra Nevada Massif ( Sendra et al. 2017a) and spreads around the Baetic Mountain Range in the southern Iberian Peninsula ( Silvestri 1932a; Sendra & Moreno 2004).
