Cirrosyllis tuberculata Schmarda, 1861 View in CoL

Cirrosyllis tuberculata Schmarda, 1861: 76 View in CoL , pl. 28, fig. 223.? Autolytus tuberculatus Augener 1918: 307 View in CoL –308; Day 1953, 421; 1960: 318; 1967: 281–283, fig. 12.12 G–J.

Distribution. South Africa.

Remarks. Type material do not exist. Schmarda's description is very brief, and it is not possible to determine the status of the taxon from it. It is, however described to lack tentacular cirri. Augener redescribed what he thought was Schmarda's type specimen, and found two pairs of tentacular cirri. It seems likely that Augener did not look at the type specimen. Day's descriptions refers to Augener's interpretation of C. tuberculatus .
