REMARKS

Dorippe ornatissima , from the Middle Miocene (Upper Badenian) marine layers of the Budapest area ( Hungary), characterised by a wide carapace, slightly elongated anteriorly, with a rimmed posterior margin, a heavily ornamented dorsal surface, without deep grooves, with the branchial and cardiac regions covered with a set of tubercles of various sizes, could belong to those dorippids with a sculptured and ornamented carapace like the members of the Dorippinae n. stat.. The photograph of the holotype by Hyžný & Dulai (1921: 167, fig. 62.6a) might convince us that it could be a Dorippinae n. stat., with a prominent posterior margin and a distinct strip, but the much rounder carapace makes us somewhat doubtful of this attribution.
