Material examined. Brazil, São Paulo: 2 ♀ (1 ♀ ov), CCDB 3784, Cananéia, coll. A. Castilho, 11.iii.2012; 1 ♀ (parental with larvae), CCDB 6131, Ubatuba, 5 m, coll. R. Costa, 01.viii.2013.
Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (Virginia) to Brazil (Amapá, Pará, Ceará, Paraíba to Alagoas, Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) ( Williams 1984; Christoffersen 1998; Coelho et al. 2006; Pachelle et al. 2016).
Previous records. Ubatuba [ Christoffersen 1979, as O. occidentalis (Ortmann, 1893) ; Costa et al. 2000; Santos & Pires-Vanin 2004; Mantelatto et al. 2016b]; Santo Amaro and Moela Islands (Municipality of Guarujá), Santos, Cananéia and several stations along the coast of São Paulo sampled by the R/Vs Calypso, Emília and Wladimir Besnard ( Christoffersen 1979, as O. occidentalis ); locality not mentioned ( Coelho & Ramos 1972, as Ogyrides sp.).
