Diagnosis. Sexually dimorphic in coloration. Ground color yellowish brown with dark markings. Pronotum ( Figs 4, 5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 ) with pair of dark maculae. Large dark area on frontoclypeus and anteclypeus in most specimens, but in a few specimens on much smaller area. Forewings ( Figs 4–5 View FIGURES 1 – 5 , 9–10 View FIGURES 6 – 10 ) with inner anteapical cell closed behind in majority of specimens (i.e. m-cu2 vein present), but open behind in a few (i.e. m-cu2 vein absent).
Male pygofer ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 33 – 40 ) with more or less triangular caudal lobe covered with slender setae along caudoventral margin. Dorsal margin of aedeagal shaft with tooth-like projections. Posterior margin of seventh sternite slightly convex medially.
Measurements. Male 4.3–4.5 mm long, head 1.2–1.3 mm wide across eyes, pronotum 1.1–1.2 mm wide. Female 4.8–5.2 mm long, head 1.3–1.7 mm wide across eyes, pronotum 1.2–1.3 mm wide.
Material examined. CHINA: 9 male, 6 female, Henan Prov., Mt. Baiyunshan, 1600 m, 15–18 August 2008, Zhang Bin; 1 male, 1 female, Zhejiang Prov., Mt. Wugongshan, 16 July 2008, Meng Zehong.
Host plant. Unidentified ferns.
Distribution. China (Guizhou, Henan, Zhejiang), Japan, Korea, Russia.
Remarks. Onukigallia onukii differs from the other species of Onukigallia in having a tooth-like projection on the dorsal margin of aedeagal shaft. This is the most common species of Onukigallia from the Palearctic and Oriental Regions.
