TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Coahuila, La Ventura .

DISTRIBUTION: Mexican Plateau from N. Coahuila and S. E. Chihuahua to N. San Luis Potosi and S. Nuevo Leon ( Mexico).

COMMENT: Further study of the relationship of nelsoni to spectabilis is needed; see Hall, 1981:581; also see Nader, 1978, Ill. Biol. Monogr., 49:1 -116, who included nelsoni in spectabilis and Matson, 1980, J. Mammal., 61: 563-566, who presented evidence of specific distinctness.
