Myopa Fabricius, 1775 View in CoL View at ENA

Myopa Fabricius, 1775: 798 View in CoL [name gender: female]; Type-species: Myopa buccata ( Linnaeus, 1758) View in CoL , by subsequent designation of Curtis (1831)

= Ischiodonta Lioy, 1864

Ischiodonta Lioy, 1864: 1328 [feminine]; Type-species: Myopa fasciata Meigen, 1804 [by present designation]

The genus Ischiodonta has been overlooked by almost all authors of conopid catalogues and there is no formal type species designated to date. Lioy (1864) placed three species in his new genus: Myopa fasciata Meigen, 1804 , Myopa occulta Wiedemann in Meigen, 1824 and Myopa ephippium ( Fabricius, 1805) (= M. fasciata Meigen, 1804 ). I herewith designate the first species mentioned by Lioy (1864), Myopa fasciata Meigen, 1804 , as the type species for this genus. This designation completes the —not formally published— listing given by Pape & Thompson (2013).
