The name Neolitsea chuii Merr. was validly published with the gathering Tsang Wai Tak and Wong Kam Chow 14799 (Merrill, 1929). However, the collection number on the label of the syntype specimen (UC 319441) is without number, while its herbarium number is Lingnan University Herbarium 14799. Therefore, the erroneous collection number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
