The name Ixora hainanensis Merr. was validly published with a gathering Ts‘ang Wai Tak 15613 in UC designated as the type (Merrill, 1928a). However, the collection number on the label of the holotype specimen is 114, while its herbarium number is Lingnan University Herbarium 15613. Therefore, the collection number cited in the protologue is to be corrected.
