Diagnosis. The species is very similar to Coenosia bilineella (Zetterstedt) . Males of the new species can be recognised as follows: lower calypter not so much longer to much longer than upper one; scutum with 2 narrow and not so intense brown longitudinal vittae; postpedicel ca. 2.5–3 times as long as wide; arista shortpubescent, with longest individual hairs a little shorter than basal diameter of arista; height of gena 2–2.5 times width of postpedicel; palpus brownish, yellowish or black; mid femur with 2 strong preapical p; mid tibia with 1 strong ad and 1 short pd (this seta at most half as long as ad); hind femur with 1 av in basal half and with 1 preapical av, with 1 pv at middle; pulvilli not elongate; hind tibia with weak preapical ad and pd which are half as long as preapical d, this seta also weak and at most half as long as median ad. Female: all legs black with the exception of yellow tibiae and tips of the femora; mid femur with a row of very short av, 1–2 av in basal third distinctly longer than others; 1 long pv-v and 1–2 pd in basal third; abdomen without distinct dark spots, but at least tergite 5 with a median brown longitudinal vitta.
Etymology: “ Tangera ” is the name for a female performer of the Tango.

Description: Male: body 3.0– 3.3mm, wing 3.2mm.
Head: Ground-colour black with dense silver pruinosity. Mouth-edge not projecting beyond level of profrons. Face not concave in profile, rather long and narrowing below ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12. C F). Frontal vitta black and 2– 2.5 times as wide as a fronto-orbital plate. Frontal triangle small, not reaching middle of frons by far. Frons with 3 pairs of frontal setae, middle seta a little shorter than the other two setae. Width of parafacial a little narrower than width of postpedicel. Height of gena 2–2.5 times width of postpedicel. Antenna black, postpedicel often brown at base, ca. 2.5–3 times as long as wide. Arista black, short-pubescent, with longest individual hairs a little shorter than basal diameter of arista. Palpus brownish, yellowish or black. Proboscis long, shining, with strong apical teeth.
Thorax: Black, blue-grey dusted. Prosternum bare. Ground-setulae of postpronotal lobe setulose, not spinulose. Scutum with 2 narrow brown longitudinal vittae along dc and sometimes one short vitta between these. Presutural acr in 2 uneven rows; 1 + 3 dc. One proepisternal seta (sometimes two setae). Apical and basal scutellars well developed and subequal in length.
Legs: Yellow, all tarsi darkened or at least tarsomeres 4 and 5 blackish. Pulvilli not elongate. Fore tibia with 1 p. Mid femur without av, with 1 long pv in basal half, with 1 a in the middle, without a preapical seta and with 2 strong p preapical setae. Mid tibia with 1 strong ad and 1 short pd (this seta half as long as ad). Hind femur with 1 av in basal half and with 1 preapical av, with 1 pv at middle. Hind tibia with 1 av and 1 ad, without pd; median d and ad not close together, preapical ad and pd weak but distinct, half as long as preapical d, this seta also weak and at most half as long as median ad; preapical setae not close together.
Wing: Light coloured, with a slight brownish tinge. Costa with weak spinules. Calypters white; lower calypter not much longer to much longer than upper one. Haltere light yellow.
Abdomen: Black with thick blue-grey dust, elongate, cylindrical. Tergites 3–5 with indistinct dark marks. Sternite 1 bare.

Female: body 4.0– 4.2mm, wing 3.7–3.8mm.
Similar to male but differing from it as follows: all legs black with the exception of yellow tibiae and tips of femora. Mid femur with a row of very short av, 1–2 av in basal third distinctly longer than others; 1 long pv-v and 1–2 pd in basal third. Hind femur with 3–4 av, 2 pv in basal half.
