Type species: Macrogena monodactyla Wallwork, 1966

Diagnosis (based on data from Ermilov & Minor 2015 d). Adult. Rostrum with medial rectangular ledge formed by two lateral incisions; rostral setae inserted dorsally or dorso-laterally on prodorsum; lamellar and interlamellar setae strong, straight; bothridial setae fusiform or globular, not covered by anterior margin of notogaster; bothridial wall distally expanded to form scales; lamellae large, with short cusps, connected by translamella; pedotecta I represented by large laminae, dorsal margin near to exobothridial seta; tutoria and genal teeth long, reaching the level of insertions of rostral setae; porose areas Am and Ah present, Al absent; anterior notogastral margin and pteromorphs well-developed; dorsophragmata fused medially; lenticulus absent; posterior notogastral tectum entire; notogaster with porose areas; ten pairs of short and thin notogastral setae; axillary saccules present; custodia, discidia and circumpedal carinae present; sejugal apodemes and apodemes 3 distinct; five to six pairs of genital, one pair of aggenital, two pair of anal, and three pairs of adanal setae; postanal porose area absent; legs mono- or tridactylous.
