TYPE LOCALITY: " Cape Colony"; restricted to northern parts of the Graaff Reinet district, Cape Prov., South Africa, by Ellerman et al. (1953) .

DISTRIBUTION: Cape Province to E Botswana and W Zimbabwe; and Namibia to SW Angola.

STATUS: IUCN - Rare.

SYNONYMS: angolae; angolensis, capensis , diadematus Dobson, 1882, fractilis.

COMMENTS: Includes angolae as a subspecies, see Meester et al. (1986:15).
