Current status: Lixus favens Boheman, 1835 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. rubicundus Zoubkoff, 1833 View in CoL .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Favens , Schh., 114–159, Bhn.” is a female (pinned through the right elytron, right fore claw segment missing) bearing the handwritten labels: “Ƥ”, “ Persia, Falderm.”, and fitting description with type locality as Persia. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus favens Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus rubicundus Zoubk., Gültekin det. 2006”. A male pinned through the right elytron (elytra weakly separated) bears the handwritten labels: “3”, “ Persia, Falderm.”, fits description, and is here designated as paralectotype with “ Paralectotypus, 3, Lixus favens Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus rubicundus Zoubk., Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. Capiomont (1875b) first established Lixus favens Boheman as a synonym of L. flavescens which in turn, is a junior synonym of L. rubicundus as designated by Ter-Minassian (1967).
