Current status: Lixus inquinatus Boheman, 1835 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. subtilis Boheman, 1835 View in CoL .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Inquinatus, Steven , 99–138, Bhn.” is a female pinned through the right elytron (by a headless large pin, thus elytra hardly separated) bearing the handwritten label: “ L: inquinatus , Steven, Caucasus”, and fitting description with type locality as Caucaso. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus inquinatus Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus subtilis Boh., Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. Capiomont (1875a) first established Lixus inquinatus Boheman, 1835 as a synonym of L. subtilis Boheman, 1835 .
