Current status: Lixus gemellatus View in CoL at Gyllenhal, 1835 is a junior synonym of L. iridis Olivier, 1807 View in CoL .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Gemellatus , Gyllenhal., 5-5, Ghl.” is a female in good condition pinned through right elytron bearing the handwritten label: “ Germania, Schneider, Mus: Ghl.”, and fitting description with type locality as Germania. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus gemellatus Gyll., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus iridis Ol .. Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. Gemminger and Harold (1871) first established Lixus gemellatus Gyllenhal as a synonym of L. iridis Olivier.
