Current status: Lixus sulphuratus Boheman, 1835 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. scolopax Boheman, 1835 View in CoL .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Sulphuratus , Schh., 96–140, Bhn.” is a female (pinned through the right elytron, elytra separated, apex of right elytron damaged, right funicle beyond segment 3 and left funicle beyond segment 4 missing) bearing the handwritten label: “ Persia, Falderman”, and fitting description with type locality as Persia. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus sulphuratus Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus scolopax Boh., Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. Desbrochers (1904) first established Lixus sulphuratus Boheman as a synonym of L. scolopax Boheman, 1835 .
