Current status: Lixus virens Boheman, 1835 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. rubicundus Zoubkoff, 1833 View in CoL .
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Virens , Bartels, 112–157, Bhn.” is a male pinned through the right elytron (both funicles missing beyond segment 1) bearing the handwritten labels: “88”, “ L: virens Bart., Lit. orientale, Mer. Caspici, Bartels”, and fitting the description with type locality as Caspii. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, 3, Lixus virens Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus rubicundus Zoubk., Gültekin det. 2006”.
Remarks. Capiomont (1875b) first established Lixus virens Boheman as a synonym of L. flavescens which in turn, is a junior synonym of L. rubicundus as designated by Ter-Minassian (1967).
