Type. In the general collection at SMNH is a female pinned through the right elytron bearing the handwritten labels: “ Persia ”, “Falderm.”, and fitting the description with type locality as Persia. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, Ƥ, Lixus aberratus Boh., Gültekin des. 2006”, “ Lixus rubicundus Zoubk., Gültekin det. 2006”. In addition, under the name “ Aberratus , Schh., 111–116, Bhn.” there is a male of Lixus rubicundus Zoubkoff bearing the labels: “ L: incarnates, Falderm., Turcmania, Faldermann”. In the general collection of the same museum, there is another female of Lixus rubicundus , placed near the lectotype bearing the labels: “Sarepta”, “Becker”, “ Lixus atriplicis ”, “ Lixus aberratus Schh n. sp. ”. These latter two specimens appear to have no formal type status.
Remarks. Capiomont (1875b) first established Lixus aberratus Boheman as a synonym of L. flavescens which in turn, is a junior synonym of L. rubicundus as designated by Ter-Minassian (1967).
