Current status: Lixus confinis Petri, 1904 View in CoL is a junior synonym of Lixus kraatzi Capiomont, 1875 .
Type. In Reitter’s collection at HNHM is a male (mounted on card with the aedeagus dissected, right middle leg and all claws except those of left fore legs missing) bearing the labels: “Turkestan, Reitter.Leder” printed, “ confinis n. sp. ” handwritten, “ Holotypus, 1904, Lixus (Phillixus) confinis Petri ” red brimmed museum label, “Coll. Reitter” printed, fitting the description of type locality as “Turkestan”. It is here designated as lectotype with “ Lectotypus, 3, Lixus confinis Petri, Gültekin des. 2008”, “ Lixus kraatzi Cap., Gültekin det. 2008”.
Remarks. Lixus confinis is a junior synonym of Lixus kraatzi Capiomont, 1875 , syn. n. This species can be easily recognized by a hook shaped, produced apex of aedeagus, distinctly divergent claws, curved rostrum, and densely puncturated pronotum.
