Lixus motacilla Schoenherr, 1832 View in CoL
Lixus motacilla Schoenherr, 1832: 222 View in CoL
Current status: Lixus motacilla Schoenherr, 1832 View in CoL is a valid species.
Type. In Schoenherr’s collection at SMNH, under the name “ Motacilla , Schh., 16–25, Bhn.” is a male (pinned through the right elytron, left middle and right fore tarsi beyond segment 1, right hind leg missing) bearing the handwritten label: “Caucasus, Ménétries”, and fitting description with type locality as Caucasus. It is here designated as lectotype with“ Lectotypus, 3, Lixus motacilla Schh., Gültekin des. 2006”.
Remarks. The authorship of this species is Schoenherr (1832: 222) not Boheman. In Schoenherr (1835: 14), Boheman gave a more detailed redescription. This species is related to Lixus cylindrus (F.), but clearly differs by the shape of rostrum, elytral pattern, sulciform striae and aedeagus.
