Lixus amplirostris Petri, 1904 View in CoL
Lixus amplirostris Petri, 1904: 68 View in CoL
Current status: Lixus amplirostris Petri, 1904 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. elegantulus Boheman, 1842 View in CoL .
Type. In Reitter’s collection at HNHM, is a male fitting the description with type locality as Akbes (pinned through the right elytron, right hind claw segment and left middle tarsus missing, remounted and aedeagus dissected) bearing the handwritten labels: “Akbes”, “[yellow square]”, “ Syria, Akbes”, “ Lixus amplirostris n. sp. Petri”, “Monotypus, 1904, Lixus amplirostris Petri , 3” red brimmed museum label, and “ Lixus elegantulus Boh., Gültekin det. 2008”. It is the holotype of Lixus amplirostris .
Remarks. Examination of type material and dissection of aedeagus reveals that Lixus amplirostris is the same as Lixus elegantulus Boheman. Thus the following new synonymy is proposed here: Lixus elegantulus Boheman, 1842 [= Lixus amplirostris Petri, 1904 syn. n.].
