Current status: Lixus operculifer Petri, 1904 View in CoL is a junior synonym of L. scolopax Boheman, 1835 View in CoL .
Type. In Reitter’s collection at HNHM, is a pinned female fitting the description with type locality as Caucasus and bearing the labels: “Caucasus, Araxesthal, Leder.Reitter” printed, “ L. operculifer n. sp. ” handwritten, “Monotypus, 1904, Lixus operculifer Petri, Ƥ ” red brimmed museum label, and “ Lixus scolopax Boh., Gültekin det. 2008”. It is the holotype of Lixus operculifer .
Remarks. Examination of the holotype show that Lixus operculifer is conspecific with Lixus scolopax Boheman. Thus , the following new synonymy is proposed here: Lixus scolopax Boheman, 1835 [= Lixus operculifer Petri, 1904 syn. n.].
