TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Nayarit, Valle de Banderas .
DISTRIBUTION: Coastal plain of S Nayarit to S Guerrero, interior of Michoacan and Guerrero along the basin of the Rio Balsas, Mexico.
SYNONYMS: vicinior.
COMMENTS: The forms angelensis, coatlanensis, and sloeops have been mistaken as subspecies of O. banderanus and were reassigned to Peromyscus mexicanus by Musser (1969a).
