TYPE SPECIES: Phyllotis garleppi Thomas, 1898 .

COMMENTS: Phyllotine. Named as a subgenus of Euneomys , later elevated to genus (Thomas, 1926«), and reassociated as a subgenus of Phyllotis ( Ellerman, 1941; Osgood, 1947). Revised by Hershkovitz (1962), who considered Galenomys a distinct genus, as did Pearson (1958).
