TYPE LOCALITY: Sri Lanka ( Ceylon), Ohiya, W Haputale, 6000 ft .
DISTRIBUTION: Primary lowland evergreen tropical and montane rainforest formations on mountains in Uva and Central Provinces of Sri Lanka between 3000 and 7000 ft ( Phillips, 1980).
COMMENTS: Musser (1981 b) described the history of past and incorrect allocations of ohiensis to groups that were eventually recognized as the genera Apomys , Lenothrix , Leopoldamys , Maxomys , Niviventer , and Rattus .
