TYPE LOCALITY: New Guinea, Irian Jaya, Vogelkop, Arfak Mtns, Amberbaki .
DISTRIBUTION: New Guinea; throughout lowland and midmontane forests from sea level to 1500 m (see map in Flannery, 19906:203); also recorded from Yapen (Japen Isl) and New Britain Isl in the Bismarck Arch ( Rümmler, 1938).
SYNONYMS: derimapa, huon, lepidus , mollipilosus (see Tate, 1951; Dennis and Menzies, 1979).
COMMENTS: Phallic morphology described by Lidicker (1968).
