TYPE LOCALITY: Mongolia, Khangai Mtns, upper flow of Ongyin Gol River "Sain Noin Khan."
DISTRIBUTION: From the Tuva region of Russia throughout N Mongolia (see Rossolimo et al., 1988).
SYNONYMS: alleni .
COMMENTS: Subgenus Alticola . Originally described as a subspecies of Microtus worthingtoni , later synonymized with Alticola roylei ( Corbet, 1978c) , eventually listed as a separate species ( Pavlinov and Rossolimo, 1987), and finally taxonomically revised ( Rossolimo et al., 1988).
