Leptopsilopa leonensis Canzoneri and Rampini, 1990: 116 View in CoL .
Type material examined. Holotype female in good condition (eyes and anterior portion of mesonotum depressed) double mounted labelled " Sierra Leone, Bathurst Falls 30.10.87, leg. Rossi W.", " HOLOTYPUS Leptopsilopa leonensis det. Canzoneri S. det. Rampini L. (red; name and the second author handwritten) preserved in MRSNT.
Other material examined: SIERRA LEONE: Western Area, near Bathurst Falls 25. X. 1991, W. Rossi, 1 ♀; Northern Province, near Matotoka 4. X. 1991, W. Rossi, 1 ♀ (MCSNV).
Diagnosis. Length 1.6–1.8 mm. Antennae dark, basiflagellomere reddish-brown; arista with seven rays; frons black, shiny, with a bluish reflection; face narrow, convex, bluish-black, shiny, with marked transverse striae, especially laterally; interantennal keel distinct, face in profile appears nearly round, very little exposed beyond the eye margin, 2 facial setae; gena bluish-black, very narrow (gena-to-eye ratio 0.14); mesonotum and scutellum black, entirely covered by yellowish microtomentum; postpronotum and pleura (except notopleura) sparsely microtomentose and the rest black, shiny, with bluish reflection; wings darkened, brownish along veins; second section costal much longer than the third (costal vein ratio 0.3); fore coxa and 1/3 basal of femur and whole tarsus yellow; distal 2/3 of fore femur and tibia black; mid and hind leg yellow, except mid femur, which is darkened apically; halter pale yellow; abdomen brown basally, shiny black distally, with sparse yellowish microtomentum.
