Type species: Stibarokris phalacrus Kethley, 1970 by original designation.
Diagnosis. FEMALE. Medium–sized syringophilines (length 600–900). Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex unornamented. Lateral hypostomal teeth present. Peritremes M–shaped, each branch with obvious chambers. Movable cheliceral digit dentate, each with 3 teeth. Stylophore apodeme constricted posteriorly. Idiosoma . Most of dorsal idiosomal setae knobbed. Six pairs of propodonotal setae present and arranged 2–2–2 or 2–1–1–2. Propodonotal shield entire, without pocket–like structure, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Hysteronotal shield variable (entire or divided, fused or not to pygidial shield). Setae d1 closer to d2 than to e2. All hysteronotal setae medium– sized. Terminal setae f2, h2 long, f1 and h1 short. Two pairs of pseudanal and 2 pairs of genital setae present. Aggenital series with 3 pairs of setae. Legs. Legs I thicker than II, II thicker than III and IV. Apodemes I weakly divergent, fusion with apodemes II indistinct. Claws subequal in size and shape, without basal angle. Leg setae vsII absent.
MALE. Medium–sized syringophilines (length 550–580). Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex unornamented. Lateral hypostomal teeth absent. Peritremes M-shaped, each branch with obvious chambers. Movable cheliceral digit edentate. Stylophore apodeme constricted posteriorly. Idiosoma . Dorsal idiosomal setae smooth. Six pairs of propodonotal setae present arranged 3–1–1–1. Propodonotal shield entire, without pocket–like structure, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and c1. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield. Setae d1 closer to d2 than to e2. Terminal setae h2 long. Two pairs of pseudanal and 2 pairs of genital setae present. Aggenital series with 3 pairs of setae. Legs. Legs similar in thickness. Apodemes I weakly divergent, fusion with apodemes II indistinct. Claws subequal in size and shape, without basal angle. Leg setae vsII absent.
Host range. This genus is associated with birds of the orders Pelecaniformes ( Phalacrocoracidae ), Ciconiiformes (Ciconiidae) and Phoenicopteriformes (Phoenicopteridae) .
Habitat. Quills of rectrice and body coverts feathers.
Species included. This genus includes four named species: S. phalacrus described from Phalacrocorax auritus from USA, S. langei from Ciconia ciconia from Russia and Poland, S. phoeniconaias from Phoeniconaias minor and Phoenicopterus ruber , and S. dastychi sp. nov. from Phalacrocorax carbo .
