Hypocryphalus View in CoL sp. ‘1422’, an Unidentified Species in Florida ( Fig. 4)
The specimens collected from multiple sites near Pensacola, Florida, as well as other specimens from China (including Hainan Island and Taiwan) are morphologically and genetically very similar and appear to represent a species, yet did not correspond to H. dilutus , or any other species studied here. Females of this species and H. dilutus are not distinguishable based on the morphological traits observed, but there are several diagnostic differences between males ( Table 2), and the species are divergent genetically. Most specimens were not collected from plant material, so their host range is uncertain. The single recorded host, paper mulberry ( Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) Vent.), however, is present and common throughout its known geographic range.
