Dissoleucas niveirostris ( Fabricius, 1798) View in CoL
Anthribus niveirostris Fabricius, 1798: 160 View in CoL .
Curculio View in CoL ? dubius Ponza, 1805: 65 View in CoL , pl. 1, Lin. 3[.3]
Hoffmann (1945: 148) apparently was the first to recognize C. dubius Ponza as a junior synonym of D. niveirostris (Fabricius) [as Tropideres (Enedreutes) niveirostris ]. The name is a junior primary homonym of C. dubius Strøm, 1783 and therefore permanently invalid. It was overlooked by previous cataloguers despite its original placement in Anthribidae : "Ad Anthribos D. Geoffroy certe referendum. Curculiones inter, et Attelabos medium tenet locum." ( Ponza 1805: 65).
Dissoleucas niveirostris is widespread in Piedmont and is recorded from all Italian regions, Aosta Valley excepted ( Abbazzi et al. 2001; Norbiato & Bartolozzi 2017).
