Locus typicus: USA, Arizona, Cochise County, Huachuca Mts. , Ash Cyn. Rd. , 31.39°N, 111.24°W, oak-pine woodland, 5100 ft. Holotype: Male, 5.–30.viii.1993, leg. N. McFarland, Malaise trap ( PWMP). GoogleMaps
Description. Male. Head. Brown. Eye bridge 3 facets wide. 4th flagellomere with l/w-index of 2.0, haired as long as wide and brownish; neck rather long. Palpus 3-segmented, short; basal segment without deepened sensory area and 2 bristles. Thorax. Brown; scutum haired brownish. Wings pale; R1 = 2/3 R; c somewhat longer ½ w; y = x, bare; posterior veins bare. Haltere short, brownish. Legs brownish; tibial organ comb-like; claws toothless. Abdomen. Brown, haired brownish. Hypopygium brown, ventral base v-shaped. Gonocoxites longer than gonostylus, inner ventral margin haired sparsely. Gonostylus slender, weakly curved, without tooth but with 3 spines, one at the apex, two longer spines located subapically as pair. Tegmen simple, somewhat trapezoid. Body size: 2.0 mm.
Comments. Three spines on gonostylus characterize the species. It is very similar to Sc. itumae but differs by slender gonostylus with three spines only and gonocoxites being haired sparsely on the ventral inner side. The species belongs to the Sc. inesae group.
Distribution. USA (Arizona).
