Australasia , Asia, Africa, North America (Hawaii) , South America View in CoL (French Guiana, Trinidae and Tobago), Oceania; introduced to New World from Old World, not established in Florida as of 2007. Notes. The mango seed weevil. A pest of mangos, and intercepted at U. S. ports (mainland and Puerto Rico and Virgin Islands). Woodruff (1970) and Woodruff and Fasulo (2007) report that in Hawaii eggs are laid on mango fruits in various stages of development. Eggs hatch 5 to 7 days later and the newly hatched larva burrows through the fruit into the seed. There are 5 larval instars. Pupation takes place in the seed. Generaly one adult matures in each seed. This species has only been found in association with Mangifera indica Linnaeus View in CoL
