Diagnosis. Distinguished from the nominotypical subspecies H. nigrorubra nigrorubra by the red head with blackish suffusion medially, red femora, and red abdominal venter.

Description. Macropterous male and female.

Colour. General colour bright red with black pattern; head and labium red, vertex with a broad blackish suffusion medially extending from level of antenniferous tubercles to that of posterior margin of eyes, postocular part with indistinct dark suffusion ventrolaterally; antennal segment I brown, remaining segments blackish; prothorax bright red, proepisternum suffused with brown anteroventrally and posteriorly; scutellum bright red, its base, lateral portions, and median impression suffused with black; meso- and metathoracic pleura and sterna blackish brown with more or less distinct reddish suffusion on supracoxal lobes; fore wing bright red, most of clavus and adjacent elongated membranous area of corium dark brown, membrane black with a small whitish patch at apex of clavus; abdominal dorsum and venter bright red, connexivum uniformly red or apical halves of connexival segments II–VI with slight blackish suffusion, sternite II blackish except its extreme lateral portions; coxae, trochanters and femora bright red, tibiae bright red, apical halves of fore and mid and extreme apex of hind tibia brown, tarsi light brown.

Structure. As in the nominotypical subspecies. Head ( Figs. 43–44 View FIGURES 43 – 49 ) elongate, porrect, anteocular part 0.4 times as long as length of head, 2.1–2.2 (3) / 1.95–2.0 (Ƥ) times as broad across eyes as interocular distance; clypeus more or less strongly elevated; vertex distinctly impressed between and anteriad of eyes; eye of medium size, globose, situated dorsolaterally, far remote from ventral outline of head in lateral aspect (3, Ƥ); antennal segment II about 1.25 times as long as segment I. Thorax ( Figs. 43–44 View FIGURES 43 – 49 ). Pronotum 1.35–1.4 times as broad across humeri as total length; posterior lobe 1.1–1.2 times as long (3) or subequal in length (Ƥ) to anterior lobe, about 1.5–1.55 (3) / 1.4–1.45 (Ƥ) times as broad across humeri as greatest width of anterior lobe; scutellum long, apical prongs straight; fore wing reaching to (3) or slightly remote from (Ƥ) apex of tergite VII. Legs. Fore femur about 4.0–4.1 (3) / 3.55–3.6 (Ƥ) times as long as its greatest diameter; fore tibia straight, apex broadly widened and laterally compressed forming a distinct dorsal carina occupying about two-fifth of the total length of the segment. Pregenital abdomen without pecularities.

Male genitalia ( Figs. 46–58 View FIGURES 43 – 49 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ) as in the nominotypical subspecies. Genital capsule ( Figs. 46–47 View FIGURES 43 – 49 ) oval in dorsal view, with small genital aperture, broadly rounded posteriorly, with a short, apically truncate dorsoapical process ( Fig. 49 View FIGURES 43 – 49 ). Paramere ( Fig. 50–55 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ) conspicuously thick, with broadly laminate keels. Phallus ( Figs. 56–57 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ) with apically narrowly excised dorsal sclerotized plate ( Fig. 58 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ), with broad, lobe-like membranous lobes below dorsal sclerotized plate broadly protruding posterolaterally, endosoma with a broad, elongate, dorsoventrally flattened, apically truncate sclerite.

Female genitalia ( Fig. 59 View FIGURES 50 – 59 ) as in the nominotypical subspecies. Tergite VIII short, posterior margin weakly convex; posterior margin of tergite IX distinctly emarginated; valvula VIII small.
