Comments. Nixon (1954) described Antrusa persimilis but did not designate a type specimen, other than to say, ‘Type in the British Museum (Nat. Hist.)’. Other species described in the same paper have holotypes clearly designated, so this was presumably an oversight on Nixon’s part. Nixon listed the distribution as ‘ England, Ireland, Sweden.’ These specimens were never labelled with identifications; there is a small series of specimens preceded by one specimen with a label ‘In B.M. 196 Antrusa persimilis’. These specimens and most others in the same drawer were in the collection at the time of Nixon’s description and should be considered a syntype series. Contrary to the original description there are no Irish specimens present although there is one Welsh specimen. To stabilise the name, one female (NHMUK010635170) from the separated series of specimens is here designated as the lectotype ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ).
