48. Nipponaetes hansoni ( Gauld, 1997) View in CoL
( Figs 17, 18 View FIGURES 14–18 )
Remarks. The species was described from Costa Rica in the genus Zurquilla Gauld belonging to the tryphonine tribe Oedemopsini (Gauld et at. 1997: 406), but later Zurquilla was transferred to the cryptine tribe Phygadeuontini as a synonym of Nipponaetes Uchida ( Broad et al. 2004) . According to its original description and illustration (Fig. 439 in Gauld et at. 1997), Z. hansoni lacks sternaulus, but actually sternaulus in this species is present, it is deep and sharp in anterior half of mesopleuron ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 14–18 ).
Shape of the ovipositor in N. hansoni is convergently similar to those in oedemopsini genera and differs from ovipositors in typical members of the Nipponaetes (e.g. see Fig. 66 in Townes 1970). Althought N. hansoni undoubtedly belongs to the Cryptinae , its taxonomic status within this subfamily remains unclear and requires further investigation (Kasparyan pers. obs.).
