Type Localities. “Forêt Nord Fort Dauphin; Tananarivo; Mahatsinjo” [ Madagascar: Forest north of Fort-Dauphin; Antananarivo; Mahatsinjo ] .

Type Specimens Examined. Syntype: pinned, “ Coll. E. Ross | Berlin. N 113 [t, g, cb] || Donckier [t, w, cb] || poeciloptera | m. cotypus | Spaeth det. [t & hw, w, cb] || Madagas- | kar 1914 [t, b, cb] || Hoplionota | poeciloptera | 8.) Spaeth. | Madagaskar. [hw, b, bf, cb] || ZMH 824678 View Materials [w, bf, sf]” ( ZMH) .

Current Status. Synonym of Notosacantha horrida ( Boheman, 1850) .

Remarks. Notosacantha poeciloptera was described based on an unknown number of specimens from the collection of the MNHN and Spaeth’ s collection ( Spaeth 1913c). The present specimen is part of the type series and originally came from the collection of H. Dockier, which was purchased by Spaeth. The blue locality label was subsequently added, but its purpose and origin are unknown.
