Distribution. Bermuda, USA (North Carolina to Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea to Brazil (Atol das Rocas, Trindade and Martim Vaz Islands, Ceará to São Paulo) ( Hermoso-Salazar et al. 2005; Anker et al. 2012; 2016; Soledade et al. 2015; this study)

Previous records. None.

Remarks. Synalpheus townsendi is recorded for the first time to the São Paulo coast which extends its known distribution southwards of Rio de Janeiro State. GenBank accession number: Sequences: CCDB 5630—16S ( KU312993 ), COI ( KU313018 ).
