Lathrobium fengyangense Peng and Li View in CoL , new species
( Figs 6 View FIGURE 6 C, 9)
Type material. HOLOTYPE: ♂, labeled ‘ China: Zhejiang Prov., Lishui City, Longquan, Fengyang Shan, 27°54'33''N 119°10'20''E, 1170–1300 m, 07.X.2013, Feng, Peng, Yin & Yu leg.’ ( SNUC). Paratypes: 1 ♀, same data, but ‘ 06.X.2013 ’ ( SNUC).
Description. Measurements (in mm) and ratios: BL 7.95–8.23, FL 3.67–3.94, HL 0.93–0.94, HW 1.02–1.05, AnL 2.13–2.22, PL 1.28–1.30, PW 1.11–1.13, EL 0.65–0.68, AL 1.87, HL/HW 0.90–0.91, HW/PW 0.92–0.93, HL/PL 0.72–0.73, PL/PW 1.15, EL/PL 0.51–0.52.
Habitus as in Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 C. Body dark brown, legs yellowish brown, antennae brown.
Head weakly transverse; punctation coarse and sparse, slightly sparser in median dorsal portion; interstices with shallow microreticulation. Eyes moderately small and composed of approximately 45 ommatidia.
Pronotum with weakly convex lateral margins in dorsal view; punctation similar to that of head; impunctate midline broad; interstices without microsculpture.
Elytral punctation moderately dense and weakly defined. Hind wings completely reduced. Protarsi without appreciable sexual dimorphism, distinctly dilated.
Abdomen with moderately fine and dense punctation, that of tergite VII somewhat sparser than that of anterior tergites; interstices with very shallow microsculpture; posterior margin of tergite VII without palisade fringe; tergite VIII without sexual dimorphism, posterior margin ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 A) weakly convex.
Male. Sternites III–VI unmodified; sternite VII ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 D) transverse and with shallow and slightly asymmetric median impression posteriorly, this impression with few weakly modified short setae, posterior margin distinctly concave in middle; sternite VIII ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 E) with shallow median impression posteriorly, this impression with few modified short dark setae, posterior excision deep and weakly asymmetric; aedeagus as in Figs 9 View FIGURE 9 F, G, ventral process long and apically furcate; dorsal plate long and hooked; internal sac with three short sclerotized spines.
Female. Sternite VIII as in Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 B, posterior margin strongly convex; tergite IX ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 C) with median suture and long postero-lateral processes; tergite X ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 C) nearly reaching anterior margin of tergite IX.
Comparative notes. The new species resembles L. obstipum Peng & Li, 2012 in habitus, the apically furcate ventral process of the aedeagus and the shape of the female sternite VIII. It is distinguished from L. obstipum by the distinctly concave posterior margin of the male sternite VII, the deep posterior excision on the male sternite VIII, the long and hooked dorsal plate of the aedeagus, as well as the shape of the female tergites IX–X. For illustrations of L. obstipum see Peng et al. (2012a).
Distribution and biological notes. The type locality is situated in the Fengyang Shan to the south of Longquan, southern Zhejiang. The specimens were sifted from leaf litter, moss and humus in deciduous forests with bamboo at altitudes of 1170–1300 m, together with L. immanissimum .
Etymology. The species is named for its type locality (Fengyang Shan).
