Amended diagnosis
Ancyrocephalidae . Body elongate to foliform; head region slightly constricted; body proper broad; peduncle demarcates haptor from body proper. Head with three pairs of head organs; two pairs of eye-spots; mouth subterminal; intestinal caeca con uent posterior to testis just anterior to peduncle. Haptor usually small, with two pairs of anchors: dorsal anchors with developed roots; ventral anchors with outer roots expanded; two connecting bars: dorsal bar V-shaped; ventral bar rodto V-shaped; 14 marginal hooks of larval type. Testis sinistral, lateral to ovary; vas deferens arises from left anterior margin of testis, inter-caecal (does not loop intestinal caecum), ascends to level of modi ed sclerotized male organ, distends forming seminal vesicle; narrows as ejaculatory duct, descends, turn anteriorly, narrows and enters proximal part of sclerotized male organ. Left and right prostatic glands postero-lateral to pharyngeal region; left and right prostatic ducts unite anterior to male organ to form common duct draining into large sausage-shaped prostatic reservoir, which opens into initial (proximal) part of sclerotized male organ. Male organ not used for intromission but for assembling spermatophore, consists of two sclerotized pieces; one piece with proximal opening, curved club-like end (see ap1 of gure 1f), receives duct from prostatic reservoir and ejaculatory duct; second

piece with large proximal opening (see ap2 of gure 1f), probably connected to spermatophore chamber; spermatophore chamber with ventral opening. Spermatophore tan, oval, with short stalk. Ovary single; oviduct leaves ovary anteriorly; oötype receives ducts from seminal receptacle and Mehlis’ glands; uterus ascends medially; uterine pore close to sclerotized male organ; common genital pore not distinct in some species. Dextro-lateral vaginal pouch houses eversible spermatophore transfer tube used for procuring spermatophor e from co-copulant and drawing it into pouch as tube invaginates; vaginal duct connected to seminal receptacle. Vitelline system follicular; lateral elds co-extensive with intestinal caeca, con uent posterior to intestinal caeca. Eggs trapezoidal, with lament. Found on gills of siganid marine sh.
