11. Rhynchortalia iba sp. n.
( Figs. 12 View FIGURES 1–12 , 23 View FIGURES 18–29 , 61–64 View FIGURES 57–76 )
Diagnosis: This species is similar to R. papuana in possessing iridescent black elytra with yellowish apices, but differs in the hypomeral shelf distinctly projecting beyond the anterolateral corners of the pronotum. Males can be differentiated from R. papuana by the more broadly U–shaped apical emargination of ventrite 6. The male genitalia ( Figs. 61–64 View FIGURES 57–76 ) are superficially similar to R. papuana , but the penis guide is distinctly narrower and parameres apically broader in R. papuana .
Description: Length: 5.0 mm; width: 2.50–3.00 mm. Body ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1–12 ) elongate oval, dorsum moderately convex. Head and pronotum yellow, elytra blackish with iridescent purplish hue, elytral apices yellowish; antenna, mouthparts, pronotal hypomera, prosternum, legs and abdominal ventrites 2–6 yellow, meso– and metaventrites black, mesocoxae infuscate to brown, metacoxae black, abdominal ventrite 1 infuscate with dark brown postcoxal lines. Eyes elongate, eye margin obtusely divergent below antennal insertion; eye margin and posterior half of head with fine, shallow punctures, frons with sparse, obsolete punctures, smooth and shiny. Pronotum finely punctate, interspaces shiny. Elytra with distinct dual punctures, large punctures on disc somewhat irregularly spaced, smaller punctures separated by 2–4 diameters on interstices, large punctures about 2–3x as large as smaller ones, coarser, deeper and less dense on lateral sides, interspaces shiny. Abdominal postcoxal lines shallow. Ventrite 5 ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 18–29 ) apically shallowly emarginate, ventrite 6 deeply emarginate, with a broad, u–shaped median notch. Male genitalia ( Figs. 61–64 View FIGURES 57–76 ) with tegminal penis guide ( Fig. 61 View FIGURES 57–76 )> 3/4 length of parameres; parameres broad; penis ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 57–76 ) and penis apex ( Fig. 64 View FIGURES 57–76 ) as illustrated.
