Dissomphalus boto Colombo & Azevedo sp. nov.
( Figs 9–11 View FIGURES 5–16 )
Description. Male. Head and mesosoma black; metasoma light castaneous. Mandible with three apical teeth; median clypeal lobe undefined, wide, median tooth rounded; frons strongly coriaceous; eyes setose. Notauli incomplete. Pronotal disc strongly coriaceous. Metasomal tergite II without tergal process. Posterior hypopygeal margin weakly concave. Genitalia: paramere with weakly rounded apex, slightly arched inward, as long as basiparamere; aedeagal ventral ramus longer than dorsal body, apex rounded, curved dorsally, laminar, very narrow in apical half; aedeagal dorsal body with two pair of apical lobes, dorsal margin folded across its length, apical and ventral margins serrated, inner pair membranous, basal process absent; apodeme extending beyond genital ring. Female unknown.
Variations. Apical lobes of aedeagal dorsal body with apical and ventral margins weakly serrated.
Remarks. This species belongs to amplus species-group because it lacks the tergal processes. It is similar to Dissomphalus amplus Redighieri & Azevedo by having the mandibles tridentate, the median clypeal lobe undefined, and the aedeagus without a basal process. However, D. boto sp. nov. has the aedeagal ventral ramus very narrow and longer than the dorsal body, whereas D. amplus has the aedeagal ventral ramus wide and shorter than the dorsal body.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, BRAZIL, CE[ará], Ubajara, PN Ubajara, Cachoeira do Cafundó, 03°50'13''S 40°54'35''W, 16–31.XII.2012, Armadilha Malaise, JS Pinto Junior, F Limeira-de-Oliveira cols. ( CZMA). Paratypes, 1♂, same data of holotype ( CZMA).
Etymology. The epithet boto from Portuguese refers to a Brazilian folk tale in which women explain their outof-wedlock pregnancy by boto (dolphin-like animal) in the Amazon region. Treat as a noun in apposition. Distribution. Brazil (Ceará).
