Dissomphalus cervoides Azevedo, 2003: 30 –32 (♂, holotype from Brazil).

Diagnosis. Male. Black. Mandible with two apical teeth. Median clypeal lobe trapezoidal. Frons coriaceous. Vertex slightly convex. T2 small, shallow lateral depression, tubercle pit-topped, dense setae directed backward. Posterior hypopygeal margin straight, pair small conical median protuberances. Genitalia: paramere with dorsal margin with basal callus, ventral margin concave above; basivolsella with scales below; aedeagal ventral ramus smaller than dorsal body, laminar, surface horizontal, translucent, apex short-horned at inner, outer corners, inner margin expanded, serrated below apex; aedeagal dorsal body with three pairs apical lobes, dorsal pair thick, base with outer projection, surface vertical, parallel, wide in lateral view, arched downward, dorsal margin angled, ventral margin serrated, ventral pair membranous, stout, rounded, much smaller than dorsal one, median pair less stout, less membranous, smaller than median one; basal process with pair lateral rounded expansions outward; ventral side genital ring wide.

Variations. In this series the specimens are quite similar to those previously studied.

Remarks. This species was previously known from Panama, Trinidad & Tobago, Ecuador, Peru, Brazil (Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia, Mato Grosso, Goiás) and Bolivia ( Azevedo 2003). Now it is recorded for the first time from Maranhão.
