Dissomphalus boitata Colombo & Azevedo sp. nov.

( Figs 5–8 View FIGURES 5–16 )

Description. Male. Head and mesosoma black; metasoma dark castaneous. Mandible with two apical teeth; median clypeal lobe undefined, wide, median tooth weakly rounded; frons strongly coriaceous; eyes setose. Notauli complete; pronotal disc coriaceous. Metasomal tergite II without tergal process. Posterior hypopygeal margin straight. Genitalia: paramere with undefined apex, slightly arched inward, constricted, wide, specially basally, higher than the basiparamere; volsella very wide; aedeagal ventral ramus shorter than dorsal body, apex weakly rounded, convergent, laminar; aedeagal dorsal body with two pairs of apical lobes, dorsal margin folded across its length, apical and ventral margins serrated, inner pair membranous, basal process absent; apodeme extending beyond genital ring. Female unknown.

Variations. Paramere with narrow apex.

Remarks. This species is allocated in the amplus species-group because it lacks the tergal processes. It is similar to Dissomphalus clovisi Colombo & Azevedo by having the mandibles bidentate, the median clypeal lobe undefined, and the aedeagus without the basal process. However, D. boitata sp. nov. has the paramere with the apex undefined, higher than the basiparamere, and the aedeagal ventral ramus with apex weakly rounded, whereas D. clovisi has the paramere with the apex serrate, smaller than basiparamere, and the aedeagal ventral ramus with the apex narrow.

Material examined. Holotype ♂, BRAZIL, MA[ranhão], Carolina, PN Chapada das Mesas, Riacho Cancela, 07°06'44.2''S 47°17'56.8''W, 01–10.VIII.2013, Armadilha suspensa, JA Rafael, F Limeira-de-Oliveira, TTA Silva cols. ( CZMA). Paratypes, 1♂, same data of holotype ( CZMA).

Etymology. The epithet boitata from Tupi-Guarani refers to an indigenous myth and means a snake of fire. Treat as a noun in apposition.

Distribution. Brazil (Maranhão).
