Longitergus similis n.sp.
( Figs. 18–33 View FIGURES 18 – 23 View FIGURES 24 – 33 )
Material examined: Holotype male labelled: Vietnam, Ninhbinh Prov. / Cuc Phuong Park, 350m / N 20°21.107 / E 105°35.378 / 16 V 2012 M.L.Pham // deposited in CAU; paratypes: 2 males, 2 females collected with holotype (CAU, CEHI); these types are designated and labelled accordingly.
Diagnosis. Closely related to Longitergus productus n.sp., sharing all essential body structures and dimensions, from which it is distinguished by the characters given below.
L. productus n.sp. L.similis n.sp.
Pronotum: (Figs. 1,12,15) (Figs. 18,21)
Anterolateral angles angulate, margins beset with more rounded, margins
setigerous tubercles without setigerous tubercles
Disk medially wide granulate ridge narrower granulate carina
Posterolateral humeri without granulate elevation distinct granulate elevation posteriorly of sublateral carina posteriorly of sublateral carina
Pilosity of legs and long, stiff and erect setae on short and adpressed setae on
Antennae larger tubercles smaller tubercles
Genitalic stuctures ( Figs. 6–11 View FIGURES 2 – 11 ) ( Figs. 27–33 View FIGURES 24 – 33 )
(see differences)
Other smaller differences observed range within the expected variability and are not of specific value. As the detailed description of L. productus n.sp fits perfectly—except the differences listed above—also to L. similis n.sp., it seems unreasonable to repeat its description. The new species can be easily recognized..
Measurements. Holotype male: Length 4.43; length / width of head 0.99/1.14; l/w pronotum 0.51/1.54; l/w scutellum 0.4/1.25; length of antennal segments I/II/III/IV = 0.46/0.33/0.55/0.36; ratio length of antennae / width of head 1.49; width of abdomen across tergite IV 2.45. Variation of size in paratypes: males 4.15–4.58; females 5.42–5.44
Etymology. Similis >Latin<close to, refers to the close relationship to L. productus n.sp. Distribution. This new species also originates from a rainforest area in northern Vietnam.
