Type species: Solomonocartus bukejsi Legalov , sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Body yellow, covered with hairs. Rostrum slightly longer than pronotum, expanded to apex. Mandibles externally edentate. Eyes large, distinctly convex. Forehead slightly narrower than width of rostrum basally. Temples long. Vertex transversely wrinkled. Antennae long, inserted in basal third of rostrum, almost reaching middle of elytra. Antennomere 2 short. Antennomere 3 very long. Pronotum campanulate, with almost straight sides. Elytral striae weak. Precoxal portion of prosternum quite long. Postcoxal portion of prosternum short. Procoxal cavities contiguous. Ventrite 1 shorter than length of metacoxa. Ventrite 2 two times longer than ventrite 1. Tibiae with apical spurs, without costate dorsal margin. Tarsal claws slightly divergent and dentate.
Comparison. The new species differs from the genus Rhinocartus in the long antennae inserted in the basal third of the rostrum and almost reaching the middle of the elytra, almost straight sides of the pronotum, long ventrite 2, and larger body sizes.
Etymology. The name of the new genus is formed from the part of generic name Rhinocartus and the Solomon Islands. Gender masculine.
