Myopa nana

"Haustellia nana R. D."

A female of Myopa occulta Wiedemann in Meigen, 1824. The left wing is missing, but otherwise the specimen is well preserved.

The specimen bears the following labels: ( 1) " O. / nana & / coll. Big." [round, white label]; ( 2) "Haustellia / nana R. D." [light­blue label].

This specimen was determined and labelled by Robineau­Desvoidy and can therefore be interpreted as a syntype of Myopa nana Robineau­Desvoidy, 1830: 248 . Since this specimen appears to be the only known syntype of Myopa nana it is herewith designated lectotype and the following label has been added: " Lectotypus / Myopa nana / Robineau­ Desvoidy, 1830 / des. Stuke & Clements, 2005 " [red label, printed].

Myopa nana was placed by Chvála & Smith ( 1988) as a synonym of Thecophora atra (Fabricius, 1775) . However, on the basis of the present specimen Myopa nana Robineau­ Desvoidy, 1830 should be placed as a junior synonym of Myopa occulta Wiedemann in Meigen, 1824 [ syn. nov.].
