MycoBank: MB847119

Comatricha rutilipedata H. Marx View in CoL , Boletus View in CoL 23(1): 33 (1999)

Material studied: GERMANY: Strausberg , NSG Lange Dammwiesen und Unteres Annatal, MTB 3449/3, ca. 35 m NN, cult. Auf weblichen Kätzchen von Alnus glutinosa . 11.03.- 31.03.1995, H . Marx , B700100374 holotype . LITHUANIA: Varéna distr. , Puvočiai environs, right bank of Merkys river, Alnus glutinosa cone, mc., 12-07-2001, G . Adamonyte , duplicate ex herbarium Instituti Botanici Lithuaniae 901 in AH .

Remarks: The macro- and microscopic (LM) description of this species was already carried out by Marx (1999). Additionally, we provide in this work a SEM study of the capillitium, stalk, and ornamentation of the spores, characters that differ from those described for Macbrideola gallicola sp. nov. We have compared the type specimen of Comatricha rutilipedata with Lithuanian material that also fructified on cones of Alnus glutinosa ( Fig. 4 View FIGURE 4 ). With this, we seek to confirm the constancy of the morphological characters and to be able to compare them with the new Macbrideola described herein.
