Description

Male (holotype). Size small, body robust and short. Fastigium of vertex in dorsal view distinctly surpassing the anterior margin of eyes, 1.6 – 1.7 times wider than width of one eye from above; anterior margin of fastigium arcuate, median carina of fastigium reaching occiput, fossula slightly deep. In lateral view, frontal ridge and fastigium of vertex in lateral view form rounded angle, frontal ridge slightly concave before eyes, protruding anteriorly and arcuate between antennae sockets. In frontal view frontal carinae diverged above lateral ocelli, width of longitudinal furrow of frontal ridge equal to diameter (width) of antennal socket. Antennae filiform, located between lower margins of eyes, 14-segmented, mid segments 3.5 – 4 times as long as wide. Eyes globose; lateral ocelli placed in middle of inner margin of eye.

Pronotum compressed, its surface smooth and with dense small particles. In dorsal view, median carina of pronotum lamellate elevated, anterior margin of pronotum obtuse protruding; lateral carinae of prozona parallel; the apex of pronotum sharprounded, not bilobate, almost reaching knee of hind femur. In profile, median carina of pronotum arch-like; lower margin of hind process slightly curved, lateral carinae of metazona also slightly curved, width of the area between the two is 0.8 mm. Posterior angles of lateral lobes turned downwards, apex of posterior angles narrow rounded, posterior margins of lateral lobes of pronotum with only lower sinus. Tegmina and hind wings absent. Lower carinae of fore femora slightly sinuate and lower carinae of middle femora straight. Hind femur stout, 2.7 times as long as wide; upper carinae and lower carinae smooth; antegenicular denticles right angled and genicular denticles acute. Outer side and inner side of hind tibia with 7 – 8 spines. Length of first segment of hind tarsi 1.6 times longer than third, third pulvillus longer than first and second, apices of first and second sharp, apices of third right angled. Subgenital plate brief coneshaped, apex bifurcated.

Body yellowish-brown; antennae brown, end segments black. Dorsum of pronotum with one white spot behind the shoulder angle, and also with one black spot behind this white spot. Fore and mid femora brownish. Hind femur dark brown, lower side of outer part black. Hind tibia dark brown.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements (mm). Length of body 311.3 – 11.5; length of pronotum 3 8.5 – 8.7; length of hind femur 3 6.5 – 7.0

Type material. Holotype: 13, 1 August 2016, collected by Bo GU, EMHU . Paratypes: 23, same data, type locality, EMHU.

Type locality. China, Zhejian prov., Yuyao (Simingshan), 29.724°N, 121.075°E, 600 m alt.

Diagnosis

The new species is similar to Formosatettix albomaculata Zheng and Ou, 2010 from which it differs in frontal ridge in lateral view slightly concave before eyes (frontal ridge in lateral view straight before eyes in F. albomaculata ); mid segments of antennae 3.5 – 4 times as long as wide (mid segments of antennae 2 times as long as wide in F. albomaculata ); apex of pronotum reaching knee of hind femur (apex of pronotum reaching two-thirds of hind femur in F. albomaculata ); apex of the posterior process of pronotum in dorsal view sharp rounded (apex of the posterior process of pronotum in dorsal view broadly rounded in F. albomaculata ); lower carinae of middle femora straight (lower carinae of middle femora sinuate in F. albomaculata ).

Etymology. The new species was named after the type locality, Zhejian, China.
