Hantzschia vivacior Lange-Bertalot (1993: 86–87) (Figs 47–57)
Valves distinctly asymmetrical to the apical axis. Ventral margins obviously concave in the middle, convex at poles. Dorsal margins smoothly convex throughout, poles protracted, narrowly-rostrate to small capitate. Length 77–126 μm, breadth 9.5–12.5 μm. Fibulae, 4–6 in 10 μm, almost equidistant, the median two more distant than the others, each of them connected with 1–2 transapical costae. External raphe branches continuous in valve center, while internal raphe branches have central raphe endings. Striae parallel throughout, 13–16 in 10 μm. Striae puncta not discernible in LM. In SEM, puncta appear as small, rounded poroids, c. 34–38 in 10 μm; no puncta on fibulae (Figs 56, 57).
Type: —Praep. Hu 17 in Coll. Lange-Bertalot (ex Coll. Hustedt), Botanisches Institut, University of Frankfurt, Germany.
Distribution and ecology:— Hantzschia vivacior was found in samples 010116 and 071054 co-occurring with H. pseudobardii a nd H. sinensis .
Observations:— The specimens of Hantzschia vivacior found in Xinjiang has some differences from the specimens reported in Lange-Bertalot (1993) and Lange-Bertalot et al. (2003), as well as differences from H. subvivacior ( Table 5) ( Lange-Bertalot et al. 2003: 68).
